I love what I do
I love to read. I love to read writing that is clear, simple and beautiful. I love to read writing that's enhanced by elegant design and meticulous presentation. That's what communicates best. And I love to write.
I love creating beauty, whether with paint, a camera, words, or on-screen.
Writer, editor, artist
In this multi-faceted digital-print world I’ve played writer, researcher, copyeditor, magazine editor, proofreader, illustrator, photographer and desktop publisher.
I’ve worked in publishing since 1992, both in-house and freelance, in print media and online.
Have laptop – will travel
It's a job that's taken me from Tasmania's wilderness to the dry reaches of business management, through the intricacies of English grammar, and inside the artist's mind.
I’ve written content for bridal magazines, photographed magnificent food, and waded through 400-page research reports on literacy programs in Australia's outback.
I’ve worked on sailing books, swimming coach documents, study guides on air transport, and peer-reviewed psychology papers on gambling research.
I've written and produced exhibition signage and beautiful product labels. I've researched green energy and recycling plastics.
I've even edited a manual on dog health, complete with gory illustrations.
Tasmania is home
But only one of them. I grew up in Africa, have lived in England and Denmark, and now base myself in Hobart. I travel between the Top End and the southern tip of Australia often.
