Half-Moon Rising

A poetry collection which I'm working into a small book. A sample:

other world

I dressed

in my Lord-of-the-Rings clothing

all falling and gleaming and velvet

and like elves’ garments

and went alone in the dark

seeking gold

do not enter, he said

by the front door

so I picked my way from lantern to lantern

walking through Middle Earth

not the twenty-first century

at the threshold

he ushered me in (no sword visible)

and I stepped into Rivendell

an elven hall made small

silver and gold and flowers

and still flames

and when I could breathe

I thought of all the poor people

watching television
